The gardens at the Filoli estate are one of my favorite places to visit. Here are a couple of images that are gateways to the beauty of this location.
First, the garden door that leads from the mansion to the sunken garden. Through this seemingly magical door you access the many tailored gardens. From roses to spring wildflowers. The cut flower garden, the green house and more. Now is the season for tulips and daffodils.
The horse pasture on the north end of the estate is the starting point for a trail that takes one to the wilderness. From old oaks to towering redwood trees. The brief hike takes you through at least 3 different typical California landscapes.
